Peripheral Neuropathy

Peripheral neuropathy generally refers to tingling, numbness or pain typically from damage to long the nerves that communicate sensory information from your feet/lower legs or from hands/lower arms.  Often the pattern of body involvement is described as a stocking and glove distribution area. Neuropathy can cause damage to motor nerves as well, which may manifest as muscle weakness or wasting. Neuropathic pain can be caused by diabetes, trauma, kidney problems, vitamin deficiencies, infections and even some medications.
Historically, neuropathic pain has been treated with antidepressant or antiepileptic medications.  These medications don’t work for everyone and undesirable side-effects often discourage compliance. Novocur offers Neurostimulation Therapy Trials to determine if long-term neuromodulation is a treatment option for your neuropathic pain.
