Trigger Point Injection
Myofascial pain syndrome is a chronic form of muscle pain. The pain of myofascial pain syndrome centers around sensitive points in your muscles called “trigger points.” These trigger points can be painful when touched, and the pain can spread throughout the affected muscle.
Nearly everyone experiences muscle pain from time to time that generally resolves in a few days. But people with myofascial pain syndrome suffer from muscle pain that persists or worsens. Myofascial pain caused by trigger points has been linked to many types of pain, including headaches, jaw pain, neck pain, low back pain, pelvic pain, and arm and leg pain.
Treatment for myofascial pain syndrome can bring relief in many cases. Treatment options include injection of Novocur’s non-steroidal proprietary medication into the painful tissue to reduce inflammation, reduce scar tissue from prior injury or long-term inflammation, break the pain cycle within the tissue and reset the nerve activity in the area. This treatment is often combined with spinal facet injection treatment, in order to eliminate many of the trigger points at the source of the problem, often the spine. Using our non-steroidal treatment, Novocur can treat many, many more problem areas during one treatment session without concern for the many side effects typically associated with a steroid-based treatment. This unique treatment is available only at Novocur.
Signs and symptoms of trigger points or myofascial pain syndrome may include:
