PERSISTENT SHARP PAINS IN SHOULDER

How did you feel before the procedure?

Over a period of several months, I suffered daily increasingly significant sharp pain in my shoulder. The pain did not seem to relate to activity, nor was it worsened by golf or swimming. I was seen by my family practice doctor and an orthopedic specialist. I received a cortisone injection, which provided virtually no relief. Over the counter medications provided some temporary relief, but I was concerned about the dangers of long term use of these medicatipns. Sleep became difficult and air travel was quite uncomfortable.

How did you feel after the non steroidal-procedure at Novocur?

Novocur - After seeing an ad on TV for Novocur, I visited the office for a consultation. Dr. Conway was reassuring and very positive. Because I am also a long term cancer survivor, I checked with my oncologist before undergoing Novocur treatment. OK, so needle injections are not much fun, but the result has been spectacular. Within days, the sharp pains that I had rated at a persistent 8-9 out of 10, became nothing more than an occasional dull ache. My range of motion improved, without pain. I was able to sleep better and my general outlook was improved because the pain had subsided. After the second treatment, the ache was mostly gone. I still have infrequent mild stiffness in my shoulder, but no sharp pains and no constant pains. In addition, all of the people working at Novocur have been great - I never have the feeling that they consider me a whiner because of the pain - some folks at home do. They have been very supportive, informative, and professional. I don’t really know how this works, or how long it will last, but it certainly has changed my life - much for the better.

Fibromyalgia and Degenerative Disease of the Spine

How did you feel before the procedure?
After living with pain for years and visiting one medical specialist after another, I was finally given a diagnosis of Fibromyalgia in October 2002. The good news was that I wasn’t losing my mind - I really was in pain, but the bad news was that the cause of Fibromyalgia is unknown and so is the treatment. I went from a typical Type A personality who thought she was “Wonder Woman,” to a woman living with constant pain and some days wondering how I would manage to get through the day. I went from being a runner to being a walker. From being a walker to being a “stroller.” I went from a high impart aerobic classes and yoga, to water-aerobic classes.  My final step down in my fitness routine was riding a stationary bike and lifting light weights. In the fall of 2007, the pain in my lower back and hips became incapacitating. Pain became my constant companion. After numerous doctor visits, I was told that in additional to Fibromyalgia, I had developed degenerative bone disease in my spine. I tried everything to ease the pain - chiropractor, acupuncture, message, pain medications, facet joint injections and epidurals to the spine. All to no avail! I was only 59 years old and was facing living the rest of my life in pain.

How did you feel after the non steroidal-procedure at Novocur?
I received my first injections in July 2008. By the third set of injections in that series, I have noticeable pain relief. I went back 3 months later and had another series of injections. This time, I was almost completely pain free. I continue to periodically return for what I call a “tune-up.” My life has drastically changed for the better. Thanks Novocur, for giving me back my life!

How did you feel before the procedure?
I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis, Fibromyalgia, and Sciatica over ten years ago. I forewent medication to search for another method to relieve the pain.

How did you feel after the non steroidal-procedure at Novocur?
I felt an immediate relief of back pain after the first set of shots. I was able to walk without pain and resume grocery shopping and other regular home chores. By the end of my treatment, I could do water aerobics, exercise and walk 3 miles. I feel better each day! My 3 sessions lasted 18 months and I returned rather than take a pill or see another doctor.

How did you feel before the procedure?
I have suffered for many years with years with terrible back pain. I have tried everything in an effort to find relief; physical therapy, chiropractics, deep tissue massage, acupuncture and an unending list of drugs. Some of these techniques offered brief relief.

I wake up in the morning and stretch! What a glorious way to start a new day. It is a miracle and I have the staff and doctors at Novocur to thank!

How did you feel before the procedure?
I had left and right knee pain due to arthritis. I could not sleep through the night, stand for very long without sitting and was in chronic pain when walking.

How did you feel after the non-steroidal procedure at Novocur?
After one treatment, I slept though the night and could stand and finish what I was doing without sitting down. The chronic pain when walking went to soreness and light pain.

How did you feel before the procedure?
I came here for lower back pain that was excruciating and this was at my last resort having tried everything. I could barely walk.

I am no longer on medication! This was great! After three treatments, I felt a 95% improvement. I had considered surgery prior to my treatment at Novocur and am now postponing it indefinitely.
